Poland very also very impressive in their opening game in the men's category with captain Aleksander Gortych proving too strong for the Phillippine defence opposite veteran Julio Calegari.

Hong Kong again showed their class in the women's category with a strong defence against the Republic of China B team. This key match will give them a very good chance of reaching the semi-finals.

Jeff Ang, Technical Director, praised the local organisation:

"The volunteers here built the beach stadium very quickly and they have done an amazing job. The communication from the hosts is very effective, and once set up we were able to get the scores updated very quickly."
